OBSTA H.I. S.T.I. & S.T.I.
OBSTRUCTION LIGHTS
![]() Compliance: ![]() FAA AC 150/5345-43
Type L-810, ICAO Low Intensity Type B Category,
ICAO Low Intensity Type A Category Applications: Any
object that could present a hazard for low flying aircraft must be
marked by obstruction lights. High
voltage lines are a major hazard for low flying aircraft. The H.I.
S.T.I. is a beacon light with applications from obstruction
lighting to air traffic lighting (buildings, chimney stacks, pylons,
cranes, etc.) The development of this high
performance equipment became the ultimate replacement to filament lamps. Features: The
OBSTA H.I. S.T.I. and the S.T.I. are one piece molded assemblies
consisting of the discharge tube and the power converter supply unit. Their designs render the system free of contact problems such as corrosion, Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI), etc. The design also ensures perfect waterproofing and is not connected to the ground potential (Class II). Therefore ground protection is not required, which allows any connection configuration to be used and avoids any voltage return from the earth (lightning, etc.). Both lighting systems include a surge protector against transient voltage and a circuit to monitor alarm. The alarm contact is factory built into the unit so that a stand-by lamp or a remote monitoring of the operation of the lamp is possible without any extra hardware. In the event of a failure, this contact triggers an alarm or can light up an auxiliary lamp in the failures place. They also include a constant power inverter, thus drawing power directly from the supplied power source guaranteeing constant light output intensity. These assemblies are easy to install and require no servicing. The OBSTA H.I.
S.T.I. is available from 110 V AC up to 240V AC with the discharge
lamp (13 turns). The
H.I. S.T.I. falls into the ICAO Low Intensity Category
Type B and FAA L-810, which requires 32.5 candelas minimum.
Whereas, The OBSTA Claude S.T.I. is available from 48V, 24V, or 12V CC with the discharge lamp (5 turns). The S.T.I. falls into the ICAO Low Intensity Category Type A, which requires 10 candelas minimum.
Advantages:
The neon
lamp discharge offers:
